Well this is my very first entry into the gallery, and accept my apologies for my untidy (not dirty) kitchen!
In my opinion and in my case, the heart of the home is the kitchen. The day is started in there, I spend a lot of my time there baking, arguments are won and lost there, we’ve had great parties in there, major decisions are made in there and it’s a place of happiness for me as my little family and I spend so much time together in OUR kitchen and that’s what memories are made of.

This morning while I was tweeting my life away, I noticed Melksham Mum had a link to her blog for a listography. And as I’m a great fan of a list, I thought I should get involved!
So here goes my top 5 celebrities I’d like to have a beer with. Strictly speaking, I’m not always drinking beer with my choices, but I am with one and I’m having stout with another. These are in no particular order.
Jason Orange- He has been in a lot of my lists lately, but he’s just gorgeous. I fear he wouldn’t the greatest person to go for a drink with, as he’s a bit of a health nut. That’s ok though, for him I’d have a kale and cucumber smoothie.
Anthony Bourdain- Forget your Jamie Oliver’s and Gordon Ramsay’s this guy is the rock star of the food world. He travels the world looking for odd and random food finds. And as he’s led a colourful life, I bet he’d have a few stories to tell. Straight up JD for us please!
Bono-U2 have always been one of my favourite bands, and I’ve seen them many times live. However the reason for me choosing him, is to ask him why he has to be so sanctimonious in between songs. I get there’s a poverty problem and people are dying in Africa, but I go to a concert to listen to music not to be preached at. Oh and to ask him why he wears those ridiculous sunglasses! The drinks order will have to be a pint of Guiness.
Peter Kay- I’m in dire need of a good laugh right now, and well, he suits the bill! A pint of John Smith’s, please!
My last choice is a bit of an obvious one, George Clooney!
I don’t think I need to elaborate as to why I chose him! We would share a bottle of champagne and he would tell me he’s been waiting for me all his life….and then I woke up!

She plays a mum on tv, and she’s hot. And in my imaginary dream world, I look like her.
Boudica
I sometimes have a temper, and when I go off on one, the hub calls me Boudica. The boy thinks this is hilarious, so he now calls me Boudica! Part of me tells me I should be offended, the other part of me is secretly pleased.

The most delightful motherventing has tagged me in a meme about 7 things. Its an honour to be tagged by motherventing as she is an author and has written a book. These 7 things will change your life and most imperative that you know.
Here goes:
1. I’m left handed and have had my left handed scissors for 30, yes 30 years! And I still use them. Photographic evidence below.
2. I sleep with socks on every night. My feet are always cold, what can I say?
3. I spent New Years Eve 2000/2001 on my own, all alone. I had a brilliant sleep and felt smug I wasn’t hungover. I started the new year with a clear head.
4. I got suspended from school when I was 13. I wore my Housemartins The People Who Grinned Themselves To Death t-shirt to school. It was a Catholic school and they took offence to it.
5. I got caught using fake id when I was 18. I was fined. Lesson learnt.
6. I was proposed marriage at Dar es Salaam airport when I was 13. My parents were offered a cow as my dowry. Is that all I’m worth?! Really!!
7. My friend and I played hide and go seek with a Garda in Phoenix Park, Dublin. I’m not saying any more on the matter….

Because I’m very new to blogging, I thought it would be a good idea to join the Britmums Blog prompt. As I’m a ‘newbie’ I thought this would be a good introductory way to help me along.
This weeks prompt is the one thing I cannot live without. I know I should say something thoughtful and caring like my husband or son, but we are all entitled to be a bit selfish. Right?
The one thing I cannot live without is my iPod. It has many uses for me. I can email, tweet, and rather importantly, play angry birds!
It also holds my totally random music collection. The Smiths, Take That, Foo Fighters and Otis Redding to name but a few!
It also proves a valuable piece of equipment whilst travelling with a 5 year old. He has a few apps downloaded(educational, of course), cartoons and some of his favourite music.
So you see, it has many uses to me. Now if I can only convince my hub to buy me and iPad….

I was tagged by Melksham Mum to do the 100 word challenge for Save the Children campaign.
Here is my contribution:
It was a beautiful sunny September day when I went into labour. After a few false starts, it was finally time to go to the hospital.
After a long night of contractions, I was exhausted. Couldn’t my baby just magically appear?
I had the most fantastic midwife and a textbook birth. As much as people complain about the NHS, I couldn’t have asked for better treatment.
I am so incredibly grateful for this experience, but other women aren’t so lucky. It pains me to think that there are women in developing countries that will never see their babies’ first smile.

ANORAK…Do you have a sad side? I sometimes bring cookbooks to bed to read.
BODY…What physical attribute would you most like to change? Where do I start?! I really hate my boobs. They’ve always been large and they embarass me. Alot of my friends tell me how envious they are of them, but believe me I dislike them so much, I’m going to have them reduced. Just need to save my money up first…
CELEBRITY…Which one would you most like to date and why? I’m forever having a crush on a celebrity , but my current man of the moment is Jason Orange of Take That. You know the one that doesn’t sing? Except he does sing, and he does have a lovely voice. He can out dance a 20 year old and looks wise he is my perfect guy. *sigh*
DEBUT …Tell us about your first ever blog post. What made you start blogging? It was only in July of this year. I wouldn’t exactly call myself a blogger. This is where the whole self confidence thing comes into the fold. I’ve read lots of blogs over the past few months and I’m in awe at some of them, and really feel spectacularly mediocre.
ERROR …What’s been your biggest regret? Hmmmm, I’ve done lots of ridiculously stupid things over the years, but I dont regret them. I’ve learned from them and with some of the things I’ve done, its made me a better person.
FUNNY – who’s making you laugh? My boy makes me laugh! He comes out with 1 liners with perfect comedic timing.
GRAND…If we gave you one right now what would you spend it on? Practically- we need new hall and stairs carpet. But realistically I probably buy a handbag. I heart handbags.
HOLIDAY… What’s your favourite destination? Italy. I adore it there. We’ve gone to Tuscany a couple times and it was the most relaxing glorious time I’ve had. This was the pre baby trip. We went back when the boy was almost 2 and that was the most stressful holiday I’ve had.
IRRITATE… What’s your most annoying habit? I pick the skin on my feet. So gross, you don’t have to remind me.
JOKER…Whats your favourite joke {the one that makes you laugh everytime you hear it}? The boy tells me the most ridiculous joke but because he’s so adorable when he says it, I always laugh. What do you call a dog that sits by a fire? Hot Dog!
KENNEL… Do you have any pets? Yes, we have a dog, Barney who’s a Cavichon and he’s just turned 1. We got him when he was 6 weeks old and oh boy, it was definitely like having a baby all over again! But he’s such a sweet dog with a lovely temperament.
LOVE…Are you single, married, engaged, living with a long term partner? Married. In fact its our 10th wedding anniversary on the 22nd. At one point we didn’t know if it was going to happen as we were getting married in Canada and all the airspace was closed due to 9/11. Luckily, the hub was on one of the first flights out of the UK and made it to the church on time. As did our UK guests.
MEAL… Whats your ultimate tarter, main and dessert? Starter-mozzarella and tomato salad. However the tomatoes have to come from Italy because they taste better. Main-Pad Thai- I love it. Dessert-The most enormous gooiest piece of Chocolate Fudge Cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Bliss.
NOW…If you could be anywhere right now where would you be and who with? I’m going to get a bit sentimental and say I’d like to be with my Dad. He died on 24th September 1996 and I still miss him everyday. I was a Daddy’s girl through and through. When I found out I was expecting the boy his due date was 24th September. I think that was a sign from my Dad.
OFF DUTY…What do you do in your spare time? I read, watch crap telly and I bake. In fact I love to bake.
PROUD MOMENTS …What are you most proud of? Having my boy. He can try my patience, but I love that boy more than anything.
QUEASY …What turns your stomach? Bigotry and racism.
RELAX…How do you relax? Sleep. I love sleep. The boy didn’t sleep through the night until he was gone 2, and I appreciate it so much more now!
SONG…Whats yur favourite song of all time? Try a little tenderness-Otis Redding. I must have been 11 when I heard for the first time watching Pretty in Pink. If you’re a fan of this movie, you’ll know what scene I’m talking about.
TIME …If you could go back in time and relive it again, when would you choose? When I moved away from home and lived on residence at school. Fun times….
UNKNOWN…Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows? I called the cops on my parents when I was 7. They were having the mother of all arguments and I got scared.
VOCAL…. Who is your favourite artist? I don’t actually have a favourite! I love so many types of music, if you saw my Ipod you’d think it was schizophrenic!
WORK….. What is your dream job, and are you doing it now? I want to have a bakery and bake cakes!
XRAY…Any broken bones? Broken leg and fractured skull
YIKES…What’s been your most embarrassing moment? I wee’d in Grovesnor Square after the Red Hot Chilli Peppers gig in Hyde Park and most passers by saw my arse! Oh well!
ZOO…. If you were an animal, which one would you be? A lion- because I’m a Leo and I want to be Queen of the Jungle!
